05 Feb  2018, Monday –IZMIR to CANAKKALE (D)

Pick up from your hotel in Izmir. Our drive takes us along the beautiful Aegean Coast to Ayvalik. Since ancient times, this is the most important region of olive production. We will visit a factory and learn many facts about one of the oldest agricultural products of mankind. We will then visit a large dairy farm (46.000 m2) located in the area of Ezine, famous for its brand cheese. We will pass the beautiful scenery of the Ida Mountains close to the ancient city of Troy. Pine kernels and medical herbs, but also organic farming is famous in this area. Once we arrive in Canakkale, we will check-in to our hotel and enjoy a walk through this beautiful city located on the Dardanelles, a strait dividing the European continent from Asia. Dinner and overnight.

06 Feb 2018, Tuesday – CANAKKALE to BURSA  (B,D)

After breakfast we will drive along the southern shore of the Marmara Sea, one of the most productive areas of Turkey. We will visit the historical village of Cumalikizik with its well preserved typical Ottoman Mansions. Our next visit takes us to a women’s co-operative, where we will learn all about their story of success. Visit of a chestnut production or livestock-farm before reaching Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire embedded at the foot of Mt. Uludag, one of the best known skiing resorts of Turkey. If time remains, we will have a short city tour before reaching our hotel. Dinner and overnight.

07 Feb 2018, Wednesday – BURSA to ISTANBUL  (B)

This morning we will be visiting one of the main exporters of fresh fruit. On our way to Istanbul, we will cross one of the bridges over the Bosphorus offering spectacular views. After settling to our hotel at the historical city center, we will stroll through former Byzantium and Constantinople to see many of the world famous attractions as the magnificent St. Sophia, an architectural masterpiece of the 6th century, the Roman Hippodrome and  the Blue Mosque (no inside visits due to lack of time). Evening  for leisure or optional program.

08 Feb 2018, Thurday – Departure or optional extension (B).      

Group transfer to Istanbul Atatürk Airport according to your departure time (supplements may apply for individual transfers or transfers to Sabiha Gökcen Airport).
